Apprentice Desk

A small desk of the type that would have been by a master apprentice. Construction is excellent. A fall front opens on to two extending supports exposing 6 drawers and four open shelves. A drawer is beneath the fall front and a slide out writing surface is below that.Supports under the desk top are solid walnut. The top is veneered with burl walnut. Drawer construction in quarter sawn oak. Some repairs to veneer and hinge placement consistent with a master craftsman  instructing his student to make such changes.     Provenance: The Ducharme family.
